For today’s home tours blog segment, we have a real treat. Anne Brasfield, a Richmond native and gratuate of Collegiate and Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, is an International girl. Anne’s home looks like it’s straight out of the pages of House Beautiful magazine. She has an appreciation for art, color, style and craftsmanship from different cultures and she knows how to put it all together!

Anne’s stunning home showcases her bohemian flair with hints of tribal accents and worldly treasures she has picked up in her travels. “I think there are two types of people:  those who want to be different, to stand out from the crowd, and those who want what everyone else has.  I offer excitement for the first group.  Probably most inspired by India and Turkey – both are alive with vibrant, bright colors. Could not live without COLOR in my life! Love the ethnic/tribal/boho style sensibility” Anne says.

As you enter Anne’s home, my favorite piece is displayed on the wall in the hallway. It is a child’s dress from Turkmenistan that Anne found in an antique shop in Istanbul. Above is a beautiful abstract painting that fits perfectly in this space.

To Anne, her house is more than a beautiful home. “Everything I have tells a story to me or reminds me of a place or person I have loved. She says, ”I just buy what I love and worry about where to put it later!”

The eclectic living room is off to the right. This vibrant space is filled to the brim with exotic decor, tribal prints and ethnic embroidered fabrics. I love the little beaded lion on the chair. “He came from Capetown, S. Africa -made by a women’s co-op in the townships.”

As Anne told me, “Pillows are easy to transport”. She has the most gorgeous pillows you have ever seen from all over the world.

Everywhere you look, there is another little surprise from elegant home decor to eye-catching wall art. The gorgeous dining room is stately and rich in color. Everything works, from the custom designed draperies and a beautiful oriental rug, to the painted ceiling!

Anne has the knack for finding treasures. The beautiful framed scarves are from a woman peddling on the beach in Belize. {Pulled from a pack on her back.} I wish you could see the rich colors and textures up close. Baci, Anne’s sweet doggie, was not camera shy at all, and followed us around from room to room.

The great room typifies her colorful and dynamic tribal/bohemian style. In this room are some interior design and decorating ideas that I feature often on BB&B. I love black banisters in a home, and I love to see how others style a bookcase. Bookshelf styling is truly an art form!

And can we please talk about this “to die for” chair in designer fabric and “poufy” ottoman. I am in love!

Now, let’s talk about Anne, the person. Not only is she stunningly gorgeous, but she is sweet, funny and so interesting to talk to. I am inspired by her enthusiasm, her love for adventure, and her insatiable appetite for the “not so normal” in every day life.

A Richmond entrepreneur, Anne and her sister, Leigh Johnson, are co-owners of the Shops at 5807, home to over 20 shops under one roof.  ”I myself also own Frillseekers, one of the shops within and have for almost 20 years – relocated from Grove Avenue when Leigh and I opened this business 6 years ago.  I am still totally energized about my businesses – love “the thrill of the hunt” – finding unusual items for my shops and my home.”

Thank you Anne for your gracious hospitality. I am inspired and moved by your energy and love of life!
