Ever since I featured An Alfresco Affair, I have been inspired by sunflowers which always reminds me of the South of France and Entertaining en Provence. As an artist, I have studied the master painters such as Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin and their love for the South of France. Meeting Jill Steenhuis a couple of months ago also brought back memories of my own trip. I traveled to Aix en Provence and Arles a while back with my husband and it remains one of the most wonderful trips I have ever taken. Van Gogh and Gauguin lived in Arles, where Vincent began painting sunflowers to decorate Gauguin’s bedroom. These sunflowers would later become one of Vincent’s signature pieces.
When I think of the South of France, I think of beautiful natural landscape {including sunflowers of course!}, delicious food, entertaining friends and family and a laid back attitude.
