Today on BB&B, your home tours blog, we have a special treat. We take you inside the home of Amy Ludwin. Once you step foot into Amy’s home, you feel “right at home”. Amy loves to entertain, so making her guests feel welcome is a top priority. While I was visiting, I made her promise that I could return during the holidays to see her house transformed. Her sophisticated style is classic meets comfortable. Amy, a native of Richmond, Virginia, lives with her husband, son and daughter {soon leaving the nest for the University of Alabama, Roll Tide!}
Their den is so rich in color, texture and patterns. I love art walls, and so does Amy. She has everything in the right place.
If you want to know how to style bookshelves and a coffee table, take lessons from Amy. She has the gift. Ryland Woodard, a fabulous interior designer in Richmond, helped with the design of the family room including the Gold Hammered round coffee table and the Designer Fabric on the small Club chair. The whole room is stylish and chic yet so so comfortable.
The den has a neutral grey color palette which is soothing and calming. The pops of color and patterns are in the upholstery and home accents. That chair is a show stopper.
The formal living room in the front of the house is stylish and elegant. Classic blue and white china gives the room a pop of color.
What a bright and cheerful kitchen to wake up to every morning. Amy uses oranges and green apples as her centerpieces. You just feel happy being in this sunny room.
Amy isn’t afraid to throw in a splash of color to liven things up a bit. I am obsessed with the aqua blue fish on the dining room side board.
When you walk down to the basement, there is an entire floor dedicated to more entertaining. Before I show you the billiards room, check out the adorable guest bath with all the lovely details you would expect in this house.
Now, it’s time to party. The basement is complete with a fully stocked bar, wide screen TV, a full size pool table, and lots of room for a fun crowd. Here, Ryland worked her magic again complete with custom window treatments in designer fabric in Linen, custom designed stools under white console upholstered in designer embroidered fabric, the gorgeous chocolate brown sofa, Ikat Linen Pillows in orange/green and brown linen, the green leather chairs with nailhead on either side of the TV console, and the fabulous bar stools at the bar! Those are to die for.
My favorite piece in the room is the modern abstract art above the console table. Pink white and tangerine swirls. You will notice that Amy loves Tangerine, the Pantone 2012 color of the year.
And if that isn’t enough inspiration for you, feast your eyes on their backyard retreat. It’s outdoor living at its best. The perfect place to relax and unwind from the day. Have a seat and stay awhile.
Annabelle had fun at the photo shoot too! Thank you Amy for sharing your home with us. I am truly inspired.
And I know you have inspired many BB&B readers with your exquisite taste and decorating tips!
