I have a thing for art walls. As I have said before, “I am inspired by the shape of the art collage as a whole, as much as the individual paintings themselves. Arranging art on your wall is an ART form.”
Art Walls – How to Begin
I like to start in the center, and place different size frames together like a jigsaw puzzle. That way, you can always add on as you grow your art collection. So many people tell me they are afraid to start because they don’t want the holes in the wall. Don’t be afraid. Holes in your wall are easy to patch up and cover up.
This brilliant idea came from Country Living magazine. “We recycled one old book, Art Forms in Nature, into a hallway’s worth of prints.” How cool is that? They recycled pages from one book and framed them in like IKEA frames for a fabulous display in the hallway!
I love the vintage portraits in this family room. The design is by Ken Fulk and photo by Francesco Lagnese for House Beautiful magazine.
Visit my curated group of art walls on Pinterest for more inspiration. There are no rules. Just start your collage and keep building on as you collect new treasures. Have fun with it and fill your whole wall. If you really want to cover it all, check out this living room design by Podge Bune.
