We built our house 12 years ago, and I love every room except our small foyer. If I had the chance to re-design our home, I would make the entryway larger with an open floor plan. However, here are some areas I can focus on in order to make do with what I have.
1. Bold Wallpaper
2. Light Paint Colors
3. Lighting
4. Artwork
5. Rugs and Flooring
6. Large Mirrors
7. Console Table and Accessories
8. Paint your Banister Black
9. Small Bench for Function
10. Wainscoting and Chair Rails
The 1st photo is from
Lauren Liess Interiors. This photo incorporates most of my tips. She uses wainscoting with a light paint color, and beautiful artwork up to the ceiling. This concept raises your eyes up. I love the beautiful light fixture which compliments the gold frames. The next photo uses a large mirror to create depth and interest. I love the idea of placing a small shelf underneath as well as the oriental rug for a pop of color.
Bright paneled white walls and black flooring create a bold statement. Add your favorite artwork, and viola!
Simply put,
painting your banister {and door} can change the look of your room dramatically. Imagine what this foyer would look like without the contrasting black and white colors. What a fun chandelier and patterned rug too.
If you are thinking that your hallway is too small to decorate, think again! I love everything about this space from the bold striped walls and the gorgeous hardwood floors, to the console table and accessories.
This entryway works with beautiful wallpaper, a modern chandelier and mirrors to reflect the incoming light. simple and elegant.
I am a huge fan of chair rails and waincoting in any room. This dramatic hallway incorporates neutral light colored walls with contrasting black framed artwork, complimentary rugs with a beautiful design, a high chair rail and console table with assorted books and picture frames. Love!
For the wow factor, add interest in your flooring. This foyer from House Beautiful has all the elements for a beautiful small space – large mirror, gorgeous table with blue and white china accessories, wood paneling with bright colored walls and once again ~ the black banister!
I am inspired now, how about you?
